Frequently Asked Questions

  • Small-to-mid-sized businesses, typically 10 to 200 employees, in Middle Tennessee and the Mid-South. Our clients include construction companies, contractors, manufacturers, professional services firms, defense contractors, and veteran-owned businesses. The common thread is that something in their operations is not working as well as it should, and they want it fixed.

  • Yes. We provide operations consulting and project management services to federal agencies and defense-adjacent organizations. Our SDVOSB certification is in progress, which provides access to sole-source contracts and set-aside competitions. We serve under NAICS 541611 (Administrative and General Management Consulting).

  • It is a 30-minute conversation. You describe the situation. We ask questions. We give you an honest assessment of whether we can help and, if so, what type of engagement fits. There is no pitch and no pressure. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you.

  • For most engagements, we can begin within one to two weeks of a signed Statement of Work. Rapid Diagnostics can often be scheduled within days depending on availability.

  • It means we start our interviews with the people doing the work, not the people managing it. Front-line staff see problems that never make it into status reports. We build our understanding from the ground up, then validate with management and leadership.

  • Good. That gives us a head start. But in our experience, the problem leadership identifies is often a symptom of a deeper root cause. A Rapid Diagnostic can confirm your hypothesis or uncover what is actually driving the issue, typically in one to three days.

  • All engagements are project-based or retainer-based. We do not bill by the hour for most private sector work. Payment terms are 50% upon signing the Statement of Work and 50% on delivery. Retainers are paid monthly in advance.

  • Every engagement produces a written deliverable with specific, actionable recommendations. Each recommendation has a named owner, a defined action, and a deadline. For assessments, you also receive a scored operational audit, a gap register, and an accountability system. We do not deliver reports full of observations with no plan attached.

  • You will not be surprised by anything in the written report. We deliver findings verbally to leadership before the report is finalized. The draft review period is for factual corrections only. Findings are based on evidence gathered during the engagement, not opinion.

  • Yes. Our Process Improvement Sprint includes hands-on implementation support. For assessment engagements, we offer a free 30-day check-in to confirm progress is underway, and ongoing implementation support is available through an Advisory Retainer.

  • Yes. Main Effort Consulting is founded and led by a former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant with over 13 years of active duty service, including time with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. Our SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business) certification is currently in progress.

  • We are based in Clarksville, Tennessee, and primarily serve Clarksville, Nashville, and the Middle Tennessee region. We also take engagements nationally for the right fit.
